Rasta Got Soul reggae singer Buju Banton pleaded not guilty to cocaine charge in federal court today (January 7) Florida.
The 36-year-old reggae star, born Mark Myrie - lawyer David Markus did not seek bail for his client as it wouldn't make much of a difference if he's bonded out of jail. Immigration officials would still hold the Gargamel captive.
According to Buju's lawyer David Markus, there is no need to seek a deal because his client is innocent of the charge.
This means Buju Banton will definitely not be able to attend the Grammy Awards on January 31 for which his Ratsa Got Soul album was nominated in the category of Best Reggae Album

bounty killer djbizzar new's: received a letter of apology from the Alliance yesterday, which stated that Bounty Killer's performance at the Annual Shaggy & Friends went a bit over board.
The incident took place when Mavado who was supposed to make a pledge called up Mr. Cross Angry, Miserable. However, with the introduction of Bounty Killer on stage it denies Shaggy from bringing down the curtains in style due to Bounty Killer's choice of words against homosexuals which calls for the promoters to pull the plug on the concert a head of time.

After nearly 20 years at the top of the Jamaican music industry, I have been involved in many battles - sometimes with fellow artists, sometimes with outside forces and sometimes with the state and its politicians. I've learnt to choose my battles wisely and the grounds upon which to fight them.

I've also learnt when to admit I didnt choose my ground wisely and Saturday night's Shaggy & Friends' show was one of those occasions. With so many politicians and members of the upper echelons of corporate Jamaica present, an audience I rarely get the ears of, I got caught up in the moment while expressing myself. I now realise it was inappropriate and extend my apologies to Shaggy, his sponsors, benefactors and all in attendance who were offended by my performance.
Alliance made a pledge to donate $250,000 to the cause and we will follow through on that promise and continue to support Shaggy and answer his call whenever he reaches out.
